East Meets West Cantorial Concert
The
East Meets West Gala Concert was presented in honour of Israel's Jubilee (50th
anniversary) by Beth Shalom West on March 17 at the Centrepointe Theatre. It was
organized by Cantor Daniel Benlolo and a very dedicated hard working commitee of
volunteers. This fun-filled evening included performances by Cantors Daniel
Benlolo, Stephen Chaiet, Daniel Lasry, Pinchas Levinson and Yair Subar. The
photos on the left capture some of the highlights of the evening.
"This
evening marks the third year that our congregation has been privilidged to
present such a spectacular concert to the Ottawa community. It has now become an
annual event in the synagogue and its popularity is an ongoing symbol of pride
to our congregation."
"As
Israel represents the mosaic of Jewish life, the ingathering of the exiles, so
too does our concert reflect on the interwoven fabric of communal solidarity
through the power of song from different traditions."
"We
are indeed fortunate to have the cantors of our community synagogues join our
own chazan, Daniel Benlolo, in truely making this a night to remember. May their
songs reach to the heavens and reflect the spiritual joy of our prayer."
